Suspect Bank Robber in Boise Hospital
ELKO, Nev. (AP) — An Idaho bank robbery suspect is hospitalized after being shot and wounded by police in the remote northern Nevada desert. Authorities say officers rousted 38-year-old Jake Rowe from a home in Carlin just west of Elko on Wednesday afternoon, but he took off in a Toyota 4-Runner.
Elko County Undersheriff Clair Morris says Rowe abandoned the vehicle when it got stuck on a dirt road in an area known as Swale Mountain. Morris tells KELK-FM radio that Rowe reportedly pointed a weapon at officers, who fired. Rowe is hospitalized in Boise with a single gunshot wound to the stomach.
Authorities say Rowe and his wife, Linda, are suspects in a July holdup of a bank in Twin Falls, Idaho. Linda Rowe has been jailed on a $500,000 federal warrant.
