Sugarland Lawsuit Settled With Former Member

Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush have reached a last-minute out-of-court settlement with former band member Kristen Hall in a lawsuit she filed against them in July 2008, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Hall contended she created the band's name and that she, Nettles and Bush entered into an agreement to equally share profits and losses when they founded the band as a trio in 2002. Hall's lawsuit stated she helped make Sugarland a success and claimed Nettles and Bush did not pay her one-third share of the band's partnership after she left the group in late 2005. Hall was involved in writing all of the songs on the band's 2004 debut album, Twice the Speed of Life, but contributed only one song to the second album, Enjoy the Ride, released in 2006. le-platinum by the RIAA for shipments of more than 3 million copies. Hall sought more than $1.5 million from Nettles and Bush when the lawsuit was filed. Terms of the out-of-court settlement were not disclosed. The court order was signed Friday (Nov. 12# in U.S. District Court in Atlanta. The case was set for trial Monday #Nov. 15).
