In 1974 world-famous daredevil Evel Knievel attempted to jump1,800 feet across the Snake River Canyon in Twin Falls. He didn't succeed. 40 years later, stuntman Eddie Braun hopes "second time's the charm."

Called the "Return to Snake River," stuntman Eddie Braun hopes to become the first man in history to successfully jump the Snake River Canyon.

September 9th, 2014, Braun rolled the "Evel Spirit", a steam-powered rocket designed in homage to Evel Knievel's "Skycycle X-2", up to the edge of the Snake River Canyon launch ramp for a Static Thrust Test. Braun's team didn't launch, but took crucial telemetry readings on the rocket's engine.

"I got a Rocket, ramp, canyon and a Knievel," Eddie Braun announced on Facebook. "Those four elements haven't been put together in over 40 years!"

Evel Knievel--who is listed in the 'Guinness Book of World Records' as the survivor of "most bones broken in a lifetime" with 433--tried to jump 1,600 feet across the Snake River Canyon in 1974 but was unfortunately derailed by the X-2's parachute system. Prematurely deploying, the parachute dragged the daredevil's rocket over 600 feet into the Snake River below.

"I am terribly afraid of heights," Eddie Braun admitted to Kelly Klaas, host of the local Twin Falls radio talk show "Top Story" on News Radio 1310 KLIX. "How many people can say that they actually get to fulfill the dreams of their hero? This rocket now has become my destiny."

No firm date has been set for the jump yet.
