Rejoice! Capcom has announced when Strider, the wall-running shinobi of Nintendo Entertainment System and Marvel vs. Capcom fame, is finally going to be able to be downloaded in his first solo game released in over 14 years. Luckily, Mr. Hiryu will be hitting your home consoles a lot sooner than you think.

One of Ninja Gaiden's only rivals on the NES, Strider, is back in a new title, featuring two challenge modes and a ton of bonus content included. The first challenge mode, Beacon Run, is a speed run mode where you must play through the levels of Strider's story mode as fast as you can and hit every consecutive beacon of light you encounter throughout the level as checkpoints. The other gameplay variant, Survival Mode will try to push players to the brink as more and more enemies start hunting Strider down with limited equipment loadouts for each stage.

Strider has global leaderboards that will track the best in the world for their combat statistics for the Story Mode and Challenge Modes. You will also be able to compare your own statistics to those of your friends.

Capcom has also announced that Strider will feature sets of unlockable costumes. Players who remember some of Strider's alternate colors in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 might recognize some of these costumes in the provided screenshots below. Unlocking the costumes will allow you to mix and match pieces of the various outfits to make your Strider look however you would like, no matter how ridiculous the resulting outfit would look.

Capcom has officially announced that Strider will be available for digital download on the the PlayStation Network (for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4), and Xbox Live Arcade (for Xbox 360 and Xbox One), starting Feb 18. The PC version of Strider will be available on Steam on Feb. 19.
