Guile's old war buddy, Charlie Nash, has returned from the grave and is sporting a very different look in this new trailer for Street Fighter V.

Capcom Community Manager Peter Rosas has posted a new trailer for Street Fighter V on the PlayStation Blog, which heralds the return of the fan favorite character, Charlie Nash. Nash was first mentioned in Street Fighter II as Guile's missing comrade, and the game's story suggested that M. Bison was a big reason why he was gone. Unfortunately, we never heard heard of the character again until Street Fighter Alpha launched in 1995. Taking place between Street Fighter and Street Fighter II, we meet Charlie in his prime as he attempts to take down M. Bison's rising crime syndicate. Charlie's fighting style was filled with one-handed Sonic Booms and reverse Flash Kicks, making him a welcome addition to the prequel roster. Of course, the endings of Street Fighter Alpha II and III suggested that Charlie was either killed or captured by Bison, and he was never seen again (canon-wise).

In this Street Fighter V gameplay trailer, Charlie Nash has returned with some Frankenstein-like modifications. His frame appears to have been stapled together with body parts of Blanka or something. He also has this strange crystal/third eye thing in the middle of his forehead that occasionally glows. Gameplay-wise, Charlie can teleport and do all sorts of crazy, Bison-like cross-ups that he couldn't do before. Speaking of M. Bison, the character silhouette that appears at the end of the trailer looks a lot like the Shadaloo warlord.

Without a release date in sight, we're glad to hear about Street Fighter V's upcoming beta, which you can access by pre-ordering the game. Ultra Street Fighter IV coming to current-gen consoles this spring suggests we might not be seeing Street Fighter V's PlayStation 4 or PC debut until 2016. We should probably wait until Capcom releases its Ultra Super Hyper Fighting Championship Edition anyway.

It looks like the game isn't over for Nash:
