St. Jude Awarded Research Grant

St. Jude isn't exclusively a cancer research hospital. St. Jude is getting some big help in its HIV and AIDS research program.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is giving the research hospital more that $650,000 to help mothers and children fight the disease.

According to St. Jude, 25 to 50 percent of new HIV or AIDS cases occur in youth.

The hospital is working with other organizations around the country to research new medications and vaccines for HIV and HIV at risk people ages 12-24.
