Southwest Idaho Homeowner’s Morbid Warning For GPS Users
For those of us who use GPS regularly when heading to a destination never traveled before--particularly a rural location--there's a good possibility you've ended up on someone's private property. A homeowner near Marsing, Idaho, constructed a sign, complete with what appears to be some sort of frightening, skeleton-type mannequin, as a warning to motorists whose GPS leads them astray.
This scenario actually just happened to me when trying to find Ritter Island for my first time. I ended up being met at the entrance to a gravel driveway by a family leaving their property. The woman was very kind, and told us that GPS often sends people to their property. They were nice enough to give us accurate directions to our destination.
Now, if I were to accidentally drive to this person's property while trying to find nearby Jump Creek waterfall, you can bet I would turn right around and not proceed any further.
