BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A southwestern Idaho man authorities say escaped the Payette County jail and then taunted pursuers on social media before being captured in Mexico has been returned to the United States.

The U.S. Marshal's Service tells KBOI-TV that Nicholas Grove is back in the country and the extradition process to return him to Idaho has started. Authorities captured Grove earlier this month after monitoring his Facebook posts that included selfies and various shots around Cancun, Mexico.

Authorities say a surveillance camera shows Grove on Aug. 26, 2014, climbing over a razor-wire fence and dashing away. Grove faced charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possession of burglary tools and an invalid license.
