TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- Several interstate highways across Idaho will see an increase in speed limit beginning in July. The Idaho Transportation Department announced that starting July 1st portions of Interstates 15, 84, and 86 will see increased speed limits to 80mph for light vehicles and 70mph for trucks. Most of the changes will be seen in the southern part of Idaho.

Interstate 90 in North Idaho will be the only road that will not see a change. The Idaho Legislature voted in the 2014 session to increase the maximum speed limits on interstates that were found appropriate by ITD.

Driver will not be able to go faster until 80mph speed signs are posted. The new law also allows for ITD to increase speed limits on state highways as well, which will happen at a later date.
