IDAHO CITY, Idaho (AP) — Businesses destroyed in a large fire that ripped through the heart of a small Idaho city popular with tourists are trying to reopen in time for a town tradition.

KTVB-TV reports that workers at the Sarsaparilla Ice Cream Parlor are working to open Friday in time for Frontier Days, one of Idaho City's largest events of the summer. A June 5 blaze destroyed a cafe called Calamity Jayne's, the ice cream parlor, Main Street Floral and Candle Shop, Old Time Photo and the Idaho City Trading Post.

Old Time Photos is planning to reopen Saturday. Idaho City is about 35 miles northeast of Boise and is popular stop among summer tourists as a destination or a resting place to and from vacation areas farther north.
