This seems like crazy talk to me but some people are suggesting that if Halloween falls on a weekday, the celebration should be moved to Saturday.

I'm all for making things easier but I think moving holidays around is terribly confusing.

I was talking to some friends who have little kids and they were asking me if my family was doing anything on Saturday for Halloween. I answered matter-of-factly, "No. Halloween is on Monday, so we do all of our stuff on Monday."

They said that where they used to live, the city used to move Halloween to a Saturday to make it "easier for parents."  Some places even move the holiday depending on the weather.

I'm all for making things easier but I think moving holidays around is terribly confusing. What if the celebration is moved to Saturday and half of us don't get the memo? Now we have folks trick-or-treating on both nights. That's just messed up.

What do you think?  Should we move trick-or-treating to the weekends or just leave well enough alone.
