Should home Birthday parties only be for family? Should you find a way to accommodate all the kids in your child's class?

Your child's Birthday is a special time of the year! It's fun to see your little one get excited and it's nice to see others celebrate the person that you love so much. But, let's be honest, you can't invite EVERYONE to your child's party. So how do you choose which classmates get to come to your child's Birthday party and which ones don't? The bigger question is, even if you sneak the invitations to a select set of children the other children will find out and your heart will sink when they ask you why they were not invited to the party. This is hard for children to understand because we live in a world were every child gets on the team and at the end of the year they each get a metal. So when they are not invited they don't understand why.

What is the magic answer? Should home Birthday parties only be for family? Should you find a way to accommodate all the kids in your child's class?

While I hate to make any child feel bad I also realize that part of life is not being invited to everything. As adults we aren't invited to everything we would like to go to, and that's OK.
