SHOSHONE, Idaho (KLIX) – A Shoshone man is behind bars after he attempted to kidnap a former girlfriend.

The incident happened Thursday night, according to the Shoshone Police Department. Police, as well as deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a fight between several people at the 300 Block of East D Street.

When officers arrived they learned that Antonio I. Venegas-Hernandez had allegedly attempted to kidnap his former girlfriend, according to the police department. Several males had stepped in to help the victim and a fight ensued. During the incident Venegas-Hernandez had hit a 15-year-old, lacerating the teen’s mouth.

Venegas-Hernandez fled the scene and crashed on Highway 26 west of Shoshone. Officers took him to the police department for questioning, where he admitted to investigators that he attempted kidnapping.

He was arrested for the felony charge of attempted kidnapping, as well as to injury to a child and fighting in public, both misdemeanors. Venegas-Hernandez was booked into the Jerome County Jail, Chief Rene Rodriguez told News Radio 1310.
