It's official, one of the worst fighting games in history is being completely redesigned into a third-person beat 'em up.

That's right, Shaquille O'Neal returns to the fighting arena in Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn. According to its Indiegogo crowdfunding page, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn is going to be completely different from its ill-received, original title. Instead of a clunky, 2D fighter, we now have a third-person brawler starring 'Kazaam' himself.

Big Deez Productions acknowledges the limited acting ability of Shaq through sarcasm, saying the giant will warrant an Oscar-worthy performance. This 3D fighter will allow you to fight off hordes of warriors and ninjas utilizing a varying degree of combos while upholding an AI worthy of current gaming standards. You will get to play as Shaq and can unlock any of the level bosses you beat throughout your progression as a playable character. As with the likes of Streets of Rage and Final Fight, melee weapons will be abundant and will also be carried by the baddies you encounter.

In terms of multiplayer, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn will offer co-op gameplay (including splitscreen) and competitive, online 1v1 matches. Currently, Shaq Fu's Indiegogo campaign offers a variety of awards for contributions, including many forms of personalized memorabilia from Shaq himself (even a game of pickup ball at Shaq's mansion).

In an admirable act of huge generosity, Big Deez Productions has announced that 5% of all profits from Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Selfless acts like this make us sincerely hope that Shaq Fu's crowdfunding campaign wholly succeeds. It's only slated for PC release at the moment, but stretch goals do include console ports, too.
