Sex Abuse Charges for Boys and Girls Club Worker

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A north-central Idaho man who formerly worked for the Lapwai Boys and Girls Club has pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and lewd conduct with a child. The Lewiston Tribune reports 21-year-old Tyrel J. Smolinski entered the plea in Lewiston's 2nd District Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutors say he sexually abused a 15-year-old girl between December of 2012 and May of this year. The Nez Perce County Sheriff's office says the alleged crimes did not occur on Boys and Girls Clubs property or during club activities. Smolinski is scheduled for a jury trial on Nov. 11.
