The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Magic Valley until 5pm Tuesday (Jan. 29th), and a Winter Storm Warning for the Upper Treasure valley until 11am Tuesday (Jan. 29th), and a Wind Advisory for Western Magic Valley from 11am Tuesday (Jan. 29th) till 7pm Tuesday (Jan. 29th).

Wind Advisory for Western Magic Valley

The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 11am Tuesday (Jan. 29th) to 7pm (Jan. 29th).

  • West winds estimated to be 20 to 35 MPH this morning increasing to 30 to 45 MPH.
  • Sustained winds of at least 30 MPH or gusts of at least 45 MPH are expected.
  • Impacts: Difficult driving conditions. Local blowing and drifting snow until 10 AM.
  • Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.  Use extra caution.

Precautionary/preparedness actions: Building high pressure will combine with mixing of strong winds aloft to bring very windy conditions across the Magic Valley.

Winter Weather Advisory for the Magic Valley

The National Weather service in Boise has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow in the Western Magic Valley and Camas Prairie which is in effect from 5 pm this afternoon to 5pm Tuesday.

  • Snow amounts: 1 to 3 inches.
  • Winds: southwest 5 to 15 mph tonight increasing to 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph Tuesday afternoon.
  • Impacts: Difficult driving conditions with reduced visibility in snow and areas of blowing snow including along interstate 84 and highway 20.

Precautionary/preparedness actions: A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and blowing snow. Use caution when traveling especially in open areas.

Winter Storm Warning for the Treasure Valley

The National Weather Service in Boise has upgraded the Winter Weather Advisory to a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow in the Upper Treasure Valley which is in effect from 5 pm this afternoon to 11 am Tuesday.

  • Snow amounts: 3 to 5 inches with locally higher amounts possible along the foothills.
  • Winds: Northwest 5 to 10 mph tonight increasing to 10 to 20 mph Tuesday morning.
  • Impacts: Travel problems as snow accumulates on area roads including interstate 84. Increasing winds Tuesday morning will cause local blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Precautionary/preparedness actions: A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means that significant amounts of snow will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
