RUPERT, Idaho (KLIX) – Road crews on Monday will begin applying a seal coating to 2-mile sections of Idaho highways in Minidoka County.

Idaho 24, a $686,466 road maintenance project, will experience traffic delays on Monday between the B and B-2 canal bridges northeast of Rupert, according to the Idaho Transportation Department; and Idaho 27, a $1.27 million paving project, will experience delays on Tuesday between Interstate 84 and the Idaho 25 junction in Paul.

Work at each location is expected to last as long as three days.

According to the news release:

While crews are present, traffic will be reduced to one lane with a pilot car. Drivers should watch for flaggers throughout these construction zones and be prepared for delays of up to 15 minutes. A 35-mph speed limit will be in effect. Observing posted speed limits and increasing following distance will reduce the risk of windshield damage caused by loose gravel.

ITD says work will be done during daylight to allow higher temperatures to bond the asphalt and rock more quickly to the surface.
