Our world is amazing. Researchers have recently discovered an Antarctic chasm beneath the miles of ice that is actually deeper than the Grand Canyon.

Found by a joint research team who are mapping the land beneath the Antarctic ice, the newly discovered sub-glacial gorge is 186 miles long, 15 miles wide at some points, and 1.8 miles deep. That's almost twice as deep as the Grand Canyon.

Team leader Neil Ross from Newcastle University says "To me, this just goes to demonstrate how little we still know about the surface of our own planet."
