Saving Money on Groceries

Esther Gibbions Flickr

We all know the golden rules of grocery shopping…don’t go hungry and don’t take a hungry husband. Apparently there is one BIG rule that we are all missing. If you want to spend less money, don’t walk by the oranges. According to a new study from Yahoo!, you spend more money when you smell oranges while you shop.  Researchers tested different odors on shoppers at a home furnishings store, and when people smelled oranges, they spent an average of $62 . . . $12 more than when there was no smell.  That’s a 24% increase.

On the other side of this, if you plan on having a garage sale this spring serve oranges to all of your customers.
