Save Files Being Lost on PS4 Due to Error
Hundreds of gamers are experiencing a critical PlayStation 4 error which has been found to corrupt save data. And for some, this error inhibits the use of the system’s applications and games. An online forum on the official PlayStation website shows that many systems are becoming the victims to this game-breaking error.
According to IGN, Error CE-34878-0 has been occurring with the following games: Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, NBA 2K14 and FIFA 14. This error has been corrupting individual saves, which makes the affected files useless, resulting in the player’s progress in the game to be completely gone. While online/multiplayer data tends to be saved to the servers and online accounts of the games themselves, single player data is at the highest risk. Considering the amount of time it takes to finish these titles, this is a huge loss for gamers who encounter this error.
Some users have reported that this error has also resulted in them being no longer able to access not only their game files, but their PS4’s games or apps as well. As of yet, there is no definitive solution to this problem. Deleting the files which encounter this error has alleviated the problems for some, but did nothing for others. We suggest that the best course of action would be to wait until Sony releases some form of official patch in order to fix this error and perhaps salvage their corrupted save data. We also suggest to players that they should make multiple copies of their saves in different locations, such as having numerous save files or saving them to a Cloud service or flash drive.
