ARCO, Idaho (KLIX) – Due to high water this spring, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game has issued a salvage order for the lower Big Lost River below the Moore Diversion.

High water this spring likely caused an unknown number of fish to move below the diversion, necessitating their removal before water subsides and parts of the area goes dry.

To take advantage of the salvage order, anglers must have a valid fishing license. You can take fish by any means, according to Fish and Game – except with firearms, explosives, chemicals, prohibited bait and electricity.

The salvage order runs through Aug. 31.
