Rupert, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Rupert Police have arrested a 20 year old Burley resident on charges of Enticing a Child Over the Internet, Dissemination of Hazardous Material to a minor and Possession with the Intent to Deliver Illegal Narcotics.

Police say that on October 23, a three month investigation resulted in the arrest of Mikal J. Christensen. Police from Rupert were assisted in the investigation by the Minidoka County Sheriff’s Office, the Heyburn Police Department and the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office.

Rupert Police Chief James Wardle said an investigator from the department received information that Christensen had contacted an underage female and began an online conversation that was sexual in nature. “Through the use of an undercover online profile, Rupert’s investigators were able to use special training they had received from the Idaho Attorney General’s office in online investigations to pursue the alleged perpetrator and make an arrest,” the chief said. Lt. Jeff McEwen with the Rupert Police said, "The investigation was conducted via an online undercover profile.

Mr. Christensen contacted the undercover profile and that's how this information was obtained." Christensen was book in the mini-cassia judicial system and later released on bond. He is scheduled to be in court on November 14th for his first preliminary hearing.
