SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A north Idaho farmer has been reunited with his runaway emu after she was missing for more than two weeks.

KREM-TV reports that owner Don Dolezal says Sheila the emu ran away when a neighbors dogs got into her enclosure and started attacking the emus. Sheila escaped, but Dolezal's other emu was killed. Dolezal reported her missing to Fish and Game, but was unable to find her.

Then last Sunday a high school student spotted her, recognizing the emu from a newspaper story. Sheila had run nearly five miles from Dolezal's home and was found in Kootenai County near Interstate 90 unharmed. Dolezal says he and his neighbor are working on an agreement for compensation for the emu that died.
