Rovio has announced that it's time for its famous flock to transform and roll out.

It's time to put 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' and Rise of the Dark Spark on the back burner for a few minutes, because Rovio and Hasbro have decided to team up the Piggies with the Decepticons and the Birds with the Autobots in Angry Birds Transformers. After tremendous success with its Angry Birds Star Wars series, the slingshotting flock have become more than meets the eye.

With a hilarious tagline of "birds disguised as robots in disguise," Angry Birds Transformers will consist of a mobile game done by Rovio and a line of toys crafted by Hasbro. Hasbro is also planning to introduce new Telepods that will feature exclusive Autobirds and Deceptihogs figures to scan and use in the game. Based on its promotional artwork, we're glad to see that this spin-off will blend together aspects of the 1984 G1 Transformers mixed with some of the designs of the Michael Bay films. Given the immense popularity of both franchises, we have a feeling we're going to be seeing licensed merchandise for these characters everywhere.

While no launch window has been set, the official Angry Birds Transformers website claims that the game is coming soon to app stores.
