Ramp Repairs Cause Changing Water Conditions at Lower Salmon Falls

HAGERMAN, Idaho (KLIX) – Anglers and boaters on the water or near the shoreline downstream of Lower Salmon Dam should use caution and be aware of rapidly changing conditions as crews adjust flows for repair work at the park.

The company lowered the water level of Lower Salmon Reservoir by about 1.5 feet on Monday by increasing flow of the dam from 5,100 cubic feet per second to 6,000 cfs, according to Idaho Power Co. It did this in order to repair the boat ramp at Lower Salmon Falls Park. Once water level was lowered Monday night, crews set to work this morning repairing the ramp.

Work on the boat ramp is expected to be finished by 5 p.m. today. Idaho Power will then refill the reservoir by reducing flows to around 4,000 cfs. Once water behind the dam has returned to its previous level, flows will return to normal. As such, water users may still experience shifting conditions.
