( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - A couple of blown transformers have sent 2207 Idaho Power customers to the dark side. Kevin Winslow with Idaho Power said that at 8:01 am a transformer near Castleford failed. Customers affected are in the area of 3600 North to 4950 North and 350 West to 1100 East. In all 540 customers there are without power.

Then another transformer at 421 South, 400 West in Jerome County put 1667 residents in the dark. The affected area starts in Gooding county – 2300 East to 2400 East and 3700 South to 3800 South. In Jerome County 200 South to 625 South and 400 East to 500 West is currently dark. That outage was reported at 8:34am. The blown transformer in Jerome, caused a brief fire at the top of the pole which was quickly put out.
Because the power line in Jerome fell to the ground when the transformer failed, the intersection at 400 South, 400 West is closed while crews work to re-connect the line. That closure is expected to last at least an hour while the power for Jerome and Gooding is expected to be restored by about 10:30 am this morning. It’s not known how long the Castleford/Buhl customers will remain in the dark.
