It's no surprise to anyone that the highly anticipated Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby were going to sell really well, but it is a surprise just how well they sold.

Siliconera reports that three days after Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire's release, just over 3 million copies were sold between Japan and other regions like the U.S., South Korea, and Australia. The two games have yet to see release in Europe, which will clearly only add even more millions to that total. When Europe does get the game released on Nov. 28, we'll just have to see how much sales spike.

Comparing last year's Pokémon games X and Y, the number isn't as great. Pokémon X and Y sold more than 4 million copies in two days. However, this total counts one day of European sales, which Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire don't have yet. It also shouldn't be discounted that X and Y were completely new games while Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are remakes. Such intense sales after only three days for a remade game is pretty impressive.

Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby are available now at retailers and the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
