It seems as if the PlayStation 4 has been selling like veritable hotcakes and gangbusters and won't be able to keep up with the demand until summer.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Andrew House, head of Sony's PlayStation division, said, "We're struggling to keep up with demand. Conservatively, as we get into the early summer months, we'll be closer to a full supply situation."

Because of this, many retailers are selling out of their PlayStation 4 stock as soon as they get them in, having to resort to alerting consumers about when the machines are available.

Even video game retailer GameStop had to issue a press release to inform customers of their new supply of PlayStation 4 consoles, encouraging consumers to "check store availability as quickly as possible."

As of March, Sony has said that its PlayStation 4 sales have passed six million units. Microsoft had sold three million units by January, but there are no updated sales figures yet, so it remains to be seen whether Sony or Microsoft are ahead in next-gen console sales.

We'll keep you updated as more information is released, but until this summer, happy hunting!
