Two new Japanese-language character trailers for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax have showed up on YouTube. The trailers feature characters who first appeared as party members in Persona 3, Aigis and Akihiiko Sanada.

Aigis (called Aegis in Japan), is a humanoid android who serves as an Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon. Originally a simple machine, Aigis eventually began to feel human emotions, and became a sweet, polite, gentle, empathetic and strong-hearted young woman with a talent for leadership.

In the trailer, Aigis is shown as a blindingly quick character with offensive options at any range. Interestingly, Aigis seems to be the only character to feature two additional meters above her normal meter on the bottom left of the screen. One meter represents her Orgia Mode, which buffs her attacks, while the other shows her remaining ammunition, which is limited and refills each round.

Akihiko Sanada is a popular upper-classman at Gekkoukan High School whose serious demeanor and competitive, aggressive nature make him a world-class boxer. Well-liked and fawned over by the female population of the school, the aloof Akihiro finds the adoration annoying and distracting from his true passion, training and fighting.

Akihiro’s video shows the fighter as a powerful striker with a large health bar, built for delivering and taking heavy damage. Akihiro appears to have no real defense against ranged characters, making him a rush-down character who prefers close up combat.

Hopefully, Atlus will give these two trailers an English language version, as they have with Yukari, Junpei and Rise. We’ll find out more about these fighters and more as the game approaches its Sept. 30 release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

In this episode of 5x5, we find out who has the best chops -- the best karate chops, that is!
