Paving to Start on I-84 Near Utah State Line

SHOSHONE, Idaho (PRESS RELEASE) - A full-width paving project of Interstate 84 heading north from the Utah border and work at the Juniper Rest Area will begin next week, weather permitting. The paving work will improve the ride quality for motorists, and the added layer of pavement will extend the life of the roadway.

 

The 7.5-mile project will begin on Monday (May 23) to place an asphalt overlay and seal coat on the roadway to protect it against cracking and surface wear.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction with drivers using median crossovers. A 65-mph speed limit and a 14-foot width limit will be in effect throughout the construction zone.

The project also includes work at the Juniper Rest Area to install an upgraded liner to the sewage ponds. This work is not expected to close or affect public utilization of the facilities.

Western Construction Inc., of Boise, is the contractor for the $3.6 million project. The paving portion of the work will be complete by the end of June, with the seal coat following later this summer.
