On May 20th Twin Falls will experience a partial solar eclipse. Sunday evening the moon will block nearly all of the sun leaving only a thin crescent visible. It should be spectacular!

This is our first visible solar eclipse in Idaho in ten years, and it's not to be missed. The eclipse will begin around 6pm on Sunday, May 20th and peak around 7:25pm when it covers 81% of the sun.

The Herrett Center at CSI is selling Solar Eclipse Viewing glasses for $2.00 that will allow you to look directly at the sun and not hurt your eyes. The glasses are available now but will also be available during a special viewing party from 6pm to 9pm at the Centennial Observatory.

Our next partial solar eclipse isn't until 2014, but there will be a total eclipse in 2017. The last time that happened in Idaho was 1979.
