Parmalee Reveal New Single, ‘Roots’ [LISTEN]
The four guys from Parmalee have revealed the lead single from their upcoming sophomore album: It's a brand-new song called "Roots."
Fans can press play on the video below to hear Parmalee perform "Roots" live in concert. As they were looking for new material to record, the foursome were keen on "Roots," but there was no guarantee that they would get the song for themselves: At the 2016 ACM Awards, during a private brunch, the band recalled how they were worried that Luke Bryan may compete to record the song, so they approached the head of their label for help.
The group promises their new record, the follow-up album to their debut disc, Feels Like Carolina, will be different than that last project.
“We recorded “Carolina” and “Musta Had a Good Time” in 2010, so here we are, [six] years later,” band member Matt Thomas tells The Boot. “Obviously, technology has changed, things we use to make music have changed.
“It’s more upbeat,” he adds. “… We’re excited about the material. It’s really cool getting a lot of good reaction from radio and from our fans, and from the drunk people on the bus.”
Following Feels Like Carolina's release, Parmalee became one of only three country groups since 2001 to have three Top 10 singles on their debut album.
"Roots" is at radio now. It will be available for download and streaming on April 29 and officially impacts country radio on May 2.
