Jason Statham  is one of the few B movie action stars that gets his films released theatrically these days, and there's something sad about that. This January brings his latest, 'Parker' and we've come to appreciate the latest Statham offerings as one might a 2 A.M. trip to a fast food joint: It may not be great, but it usually delivers what you were expecting.

But there a reason to think this might rise above some of his more recent films, as this may be Statham's classiest star vehicle ever. Even though he was playing against a phoning it in Robert De Niro and Clive Owen in 'Killer Elite,' 'Parker' has a real director behind it (Taylor Hackford, who also helmed the Oscar-nominated 'Ray') and an impressive cast for one of these things (which includes Jennifer Lopez, Nick Nolte, and Michael Chiklis). Perhaps this is a cut above, but as long as Statham kills someone, it should do the trick.

Here's the film's synopsis:

Parker (Jason Statham) is a professional thief who lives by a personal code of ethics: Don’t steal from people who can’t afford it and don’t hurt people who don’t deserve it.  But on his latest heist, his crew double crosses him, steals his stash, and leaves him for dead.

Determined to make sure they regret it, Parker tracks them to Palm Beach, playground of the rich and famous, where the crew is planning their biggest heist ever.  Donning the disguise of a rich Texan, Parker takes on an unlikely partner, Leslie (Jennifer Lopez), a savvy insider, who’s short on cash, but big on looks, smarts and ambition.  Together, they devise a plan to hijack the score, take everyone down and get away clean.

And here's that featurette. 'Parker' opens January 25.
