Yellowstone National Park Bison Numbers Down from Last Year

Yellowstone National Park biologists say bison numbers are down from last year after its largest cull in nearly a decade. Parks spokesman Jonathan Shafer said in an email that biologists' surveys counted about 4,800 bison that live in the park, 700 less than last year.

Dietrich School Settles in Locker Room Assault Case

A southern Idaho school district has agreed to settle a federal lawsuit involving a black football player who says he was sexually assaulted by three teammates in 2015. Lee Schlender, the victim's attorney, confirmed Monday a monetary settlement had been reached with the Dietrich School District, but declined to share details regarding the amount and terms of the agreement.

Twin Falls Women Recall Las Vegas Shooting

It sounded like fireworks.

At least it did to Jessica Ward. She and her friend were leaving the concert at the Mandalay Bay Casino on Sunday night when she heard the popping.

They looked back and didn’t see fireworks. Then police went passed them holding guns. That was when they knew those weren’t fireworks. Those were gunshots.

“I started to run, got behind a brick wall and we ducked down,” Ward said.

Idaho’s governor has appointed a new head of the state department of labor after the previous director resigned. Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter appointed Melinda Smyser on Friday to head the Idaho Department of Labor. Smyser is the regional director for U.S. Senator Jim Risch and a former state senator from Parma.
