Filer/Castleford, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - A shop burned to the ground overnight in Filer. Filer rural fire chief Bud Compher said the fire was reported just before 2 am. When they arrived they found a shop fully engulfed in flames.

The 30 by 50 foot shop at 2372 East and 4200 North contained equipment and two vehicles. At this time it appears everything was a total loss. Two trucks and two tankers with 14 firemen had the fire under control in about 20 minutes but were on scene for about a hour and a half making sure they had the fire completely out. Sparks and heat from the fire was falling on a nearby garage and the siding on that structure melted but there was no other damage, Compher said. At this time the cause of the fire or the total value that was lost is not known, according to officials.

Then at 5:44 am the Castleford Fire Department was sent to a fire in a detached basement at 3425 North and 1200 East. Castleford Fire Chief Seth Christensen said the basement was about 10 feet away from a home. At this time the cause of that fire may have been a Heat Lamp that shorted out. That started some nearby wood on fire. The basement that was a converted cellar, was being used as storage and housed a water conditioner.

There were no homeowner injuries reported in either fire. Fire Chief Christensen said one firefighter was treated for a twisted ankle in the Castleford fire.
