TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Forty new scholarships will be awarded to Idaho students this year through the 2016 Governor’s Cup Scholarships.

Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter made the announcement this morning. The recipients, who are listed below and include some from the Magic Valley, are students who will attend colleges and universities in areas across the state.

“It’s an honor to work with the generous sponsors who make the Governor’s Cup Scholarship program possible, and it’s a privilege to watch great Idaho students get the chance to reach their academic goals right here at home,” Otter said.

“They are the leaders who will build stronger Idaho communities for the future. The civic virtue and commitment to sustainably investing in Idaho’s future that’s expressed by everyone involved in the Governor’s Cup program is as inspiring to me as it is critical to our success.”

Recipients were chosen from among more than 700 applicants by the Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship Fund Inc.’s 15-member board of directors, according to a news release. Selections were made based on each applicant’s commitment to public service, academic achievement, leadership and community involvement.

The award is $3,000 per year, renewable for up to four years, or two to three years for professional-technical programs, contingent upon the availability of funds.
