PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — State wildlife staff have shot and killed four wolves in eastern Oregon because the animals attacked livestock in recent weeks.

A spokeswoman for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says the wolves were killed on Thursday on private land in Wallowa County. The wolves are members of the Imnaha pack.

They attacked livestock five times in March, killing cows and sheep on private land. It is the third time lethal control has been employed on wolves since the animals returned to the state in the early 2000s.
