One Arrested in Purdue University Shooting

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Police have a person in custody following a reported shooting at Purdue University in Indiana.

Purdue spokesman Greg McClure tells The Associated Press that police haven't released information about possible injuries. The shooting was reported around noon on Tuesday at the electrical engineering building on the school's campus in West Lafayette.

McClure says police have a person in custody but no details are available. The engineering building is on lockdown, and the university issued a campus-wide text alert advising students and faculty to take shelter while police clear the building on the 40,000-student campus.

Television footage shows a fire truck and several law enforcement vehicles around the building, which is across from where President Mitch Daniels' office is housed.

West Lafayette is about 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis.
