MERIDIAN, Idaho (AP) — A suicidal man has died after an officer-involved shooting in the parking lot of a Meridian apartment building.

Meridian Police Chief Jeff Lavey says officers were called to the apartment building just before midnight Monday. Lavey says the situation escalated to the man threatening suicide.

Lavey says the man ran out the back door of his apartment while holding a weapon, leading the four responding officers to fire at the man. Lavey did not say what kind of weapon the man had.

No bystanders or officers were hurt. The officers were placed on paid administrative leave while Boise police and the Critical Incident Task Force investigate the shooting.
