BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A federal judge has ruled in favor of the state in a lawsuit over rules developed in response to the Occupy Boise protesters who pitched tents and camped on grounds near the Capitol.

U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill determined last week that Idaho's no-camping statute on the Capitol Mall is constitutional and attempts to enforce a camping ban did not infringe on free speech rights. The decision is the latest in a 2012 lawsuit filed by four Occupy Boise protesters who challenged a law banning camping on the Capitol Annex grounds.

In November 2011, Occupy Boise erected a tent city on lawn to protest economic inequality. But months later, lawmakers approved a bill a ban on camping on state grounds that was initially struck down by the judge.
