Number of Idaho First Year Law Students Down

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Officials at Portland, Ore.-based Concordia University say enrollment of first-year law students in Boise is down 40 percent from last year. The school says 44 first-year students enrolled for 2013-2014. That's down from 73 in 2012. School officials say the drop was expected because of the built-up demand for a law school in Boise the first year it opened. Concordia Law School Dean Cathy Silak tells the Idaho Statesman that 63 students returned to the school for their second year. She says five students are on leaves of absence and not counted as having left the program.
