The grand old institution of marriage has seen a lot of changes in the past decade, most of which have been hotly debated. But one that I find curious is the tradition of the wife taking the husband's last name. Who says it has to be the husband's last name?

Many women, especially on Facebook, hyphenate their last names to include their married and maiden names, and there are couples who don't exchange names at all. It's a very personal choice for the couple, and who are we as a society to say that a woman must take a man's last name?

Why can't a husband take the woman's last name? What's wrong with that?
