Construction is scheduled to start soon on a new Twin Falls Visitor Center near the Snake River Canyon rim.

According to magicvalley.com once the city issues a building permit, the existing center will be demolished to make way for the new one — likely within two weeks, said Shawn Barigar, president and CEO of the Twin Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.

“An aggressive construction schedule” will compete the project by late summer, Barigar said. A temporary, mobile center will operate during construction.

The current facility, open from March to October, has about 1,000 square feet. The new building will hold the chamber offices and Southern Idaho Tourism. Barigar said, "A combination of money saved over the past decade and private contributions are making the project possible."
