TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Employees were busy preparing for the day’s business on Friday morning at Cheverria’s Traditional Mexican Food & Meat Market.

Open since late September, the small business at 850 Shoshone St. West is already making a name for itself. It’s growing a reputation that started in Jerome, where Enrique Sandoval opened a market in 2013.

We're excited to be a part of this side of town," says co-owner Clarissa Sandoval. "We hope to see a lot of new people.

“We're excited to be a part of this side of town,” Enrique’s daughter and market co-owner Clarisa Sandoval said Friday morning at the new shop. It’s a three-in-one business – grocery store, meat market, and restaurant.

Doors opened in late September, with a grand opening held on Oct. 7. The first couple of weeks of business have been encouraging, she said. Twin Falls residents who know of the Jerome market have been visiting the new store and new customers are finding out about it.

The shop targets the area’s Hispanic population, but the shop appeals to anyone who likes Mexican food and her father’s meat specialties. A couple of popular items are Enrique’s carnitas and birria, the latter a marinated beef recipe.

Besides fresh meat and Enrique’s special dishes the store sells produce, tortillas, sauces, canned goods and much more.

About six employees work at the market, plus family members including Sandoval’s brother Enrique Jr. Business hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.

“We hope to see a lot of new people,” Sandoval said, noting that she thanks the community “for all of its support so far.”
