New Laboratory Dedicated at INL for Alternate Energy Systems

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — The Department of Energy has dedicated a new facility at the Idaho National Laboratory in eastern Idaho where researchers will attempt to advance understanding in areas such as biofuels, energy storage and creating hybrid energy systems.

The Post Register reports that state and federal officials on Tuesday marked the opening of the 91,000-square-foot Energy Systems Laboratory. Dennis Miolta is the chief operation officer and acting principal deputy assistant secretary for the Department of Energy's Office of Nuclear Energy.

He says the new facility will give scientists and engineers the ability to tackle energy challenges. About 100 people attended the dedication of the facility where work started in June 2011.
