An Airman from the 366th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron died Sunday (Nov. 24) while hiking in Bruneau Canyon.

Local search and rescue units discovered the body after being notified by another Airman who was hiking with the deceased. Recovery efforts are underway today.

“We lost a valued member of the Gunfighter family,” said Col. Chris Short, 366th Fighter Wing commander. "This is a tragic event and our hearts go out to our Airman’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

The identity of the Airman is being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notification. The cause of death is under investigation.
