Mothmageddon: How to Get Rid of All the Moths
I went from ZERO moths a month ago, to over 30 in one night INSIDE MY HOUSE. I killed them all. I counted. I was up until 1 a.m.
The next night? Same story. Don't even get me started on my garage.
So if you're like me and live in Twin Falls, you've probably been invaded with an absolute ridiculous amount of moths this year.
Below are a few videos on moth control, but they aren't foolproof... I needed my own Twin Falls-tailored solution... and I'm happy to report that my indoor moth count is back to ZERO again. Here's how I did it.
Moths like to hide in cool, dark places during the day and can sometimes be near-impossible to spot. That said, here's what I did:
- Closed my heating vents on the floors. Mine were open. I suspect a bunch were hiding in there (eww)
- Vacuum everything (with a hose attachment... I used a shop-vac). Especially corners, vents, behind furniture, tops of window blind mechanisms... anywhere there's darkness or a hidden area.
- I have window AC's... tape the edges. Make it so there's NO outside entry into the house.
- My kitchen steam hood is pretty much just a hole in the ceiling... I turned it on and left it on when I went all anti-moth for a night just to see if that was the problem.
I almost called an exterminator but I have 2 dogs and wanted to try EVERYTHING before calling one (plus I'm cheap). That said, there's probably no shame in calling one :).
