LAVA HOT SPRINGS, Idaho (AP) — A Utah mother and her 5-year-old son were injured when their all-terrain vehicle crashed south of Lava Hot Springs.

The Idaho State Journal reports that the accident happened on Friday night. Both were taken to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello at about 8 p.m. The Bannock County Sheriff's Office says 39-year-old Tina Reich and son, Rycher Parker, are from Layton, Utah. Officials say the crash occurred while Reich was driving the ATV and her son was her passenger.

Reich lost control of the ATV and it left the roadway, causing both to be thrown off. Deputies say Reich suffered a bump on her head and the boy may have a broken leg. Both injuries were believed to be non-life threatening.
