Kitana, the princess of Outworld, is back to join the fight for Earthrealm in Mortal Kombat X as a longtime vet of the series is officially put to rest.

NetherRealm Studios has provided a new video for Mortal Kombat X, focusing all on the Outworld princess, Kitana. Like the rest of MKX's violent roster, Kitana has three different styles of combat she'll be able to use. Her Royal Storm form is focused on ranged attacks, defense and zoning. All of her fan-based projectiles will move across farther distances while playing Royal Storm than her other two fighting styles. The Assasssin version of Kitana has a larger focus on melee offense, rushdown attacks and her combo ability. Kitana's third form, Mournful, is the most interesting. In this variation, Kitana abandons her fans and uses Jade's staff and boomerang, paying tribute to her fallen friend while using a completely different style. Unfortunately, this means we've got some bad news for fans of the green-themed femme fatale.

During a recent Twitch livestream by NetherRealm Studios, we found out that Jade would not be returning for Mortal Kombat X, as she was killed in MK9 by Kitana's mother, Sindel. On the other hand, Kitana was also killed by her during the same cutscene, as were Smoke, Jax, Sub-Zero, Striker and Kabal. Other characters who died in the last title include Shao Kahn, Sindel, Shang Tsung, Ermac, Nightwolf and Noob Saibot, leaving only Raiden, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Quan Chi and the main MK4 villain, Shinnok, as the game's survivors. With some of these formally dead characters returning in MKX, who knows what other characters are returning from the great beyond.

Mortal Kombat X will debut on April 14 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

With Jade gone, Kitana's Fatalities better be extra gnarly:
