BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Few revelations shocked Idaho residents more than when U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo pleaded guilty to driving drunk in January, the result of a pre-Christmas joyride in suburban Virginia.

But later this year, Idaho's senior Republican senator got another black eye when he reported $250,000 in campaign cash had vanished. Crapo's stumbles were among 2013 lowlights that included a controversy over whether Boise State University quarterback Joe Southwick urinated off a Hawaiian hotel balcony — or got set up by teammates.Either way, Southwick was sent home to Boise, where he took a lie-detector test to underscore his innocence — and passed, he said.

Other Idaho depths, well-plumbed: Chobani's tainted yogurt; the Idaho insurance exchange's $375,000 no-bid contract with an insider; and prison time for failed Tamarack Resort suitor Matthew Hutcheson.
